Lead Software Engineer

Inversal (Tactics, Lakai) · Remote

Principal engineer across a multi-company portfolio. Report to the COO; work with the executive team on technology strategy and roadmap.

Stack —Next.js 16 · React · TypeScript · Node.js · PostgreSQL · Vercel · AI Gateway · C# .NET (legacy)

  • Hired and lead the engineering team — interviewing, 1:1s, performance reviews, mentorship, and team roadmap — while still owning the hardest technical work myself.
  • Designed Tactics's migration strategy — the legacy C# and new Next.js stacks have run in sync for 10+ months. Zero data loss, zero customer-facing downtime.
  • Built the portfolio's WMS from scratch — Next.js 16 (Server Components, PPR), TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL on Vercel. Handles 15K+ SKUs, 50K+ customer records, and 500+ daily transactions.
  • Keep a 25-year-old C# framework running alongside the new stack — refactored ~15K lines of legacy code without taking the system down. Careful, reversible changes on something the business runs on every day.
  • Work directly with operations, finance, and executive leadership across portfolio companies — turn their actual workflows into specs, roadmap, and priorities.
  • Production discipline by habit: audit logging, role-based access control, encryption for sensitive data, PII-aware handling, and properly separated dev / staging / production. The default posture healthcare commerce and other regulated environments expect.

Software Developer

The Edge Fitness Clubs · Pike Creek, DE

Sales-floor tooling and executive CMS for a 50+ location fitness chain.

Stack —JavaScript · React · Node.js · MySQL · REST APIs

  • Built the end-of-tour pricing screen — used by 500+ salespeople across 50+ clubs at the moment of every membership sale.
  • Built a custom CMS that let executives schedule pricing and promotions per club, per day — replaced a $100K/yr SaaS with internal infrastructure running under $100/mo.
  • Worked with operations, executives, and sales management on rollout and training across all 50+ locations. System ran in daily use without major incident the full time I was there.

Sales Leadership

Dick's Sporting Goods · The Edge Fitness

Sales Team Lead at Dick's Sporting Goods (8 reports) and Sales Specialist at The Edge Fitness. The customer-facing years that still shape how I build software.

    6 habits

    • 01

      Audit logging

Every change to production data is recorded, attributable, and reversible.

    • 02

      Role-based access control

Each internal system has its own permission model. No shared admin keys.

    • 03

Encryption at rest and in transit

Sensitive data stays encrypted wherever it lives and wherever it moves.

    • 04

      PII-aware data handling

Personal data isn't logged, isn't surfaced by accident, and doesn't move without a reason.

    • 05

      Separated environments

Real dev, staging, and production environments — and cutovers I can actually see.

    04

    What I'm Good At

5 things I keep coming back to

    01 / 05

    Building systems that last.

A year in production, zero downtime, zero data loss.

    02 / 05

    Leading and shipping.

I hire, mentor, and run a team without handing the hardest work off.

    03 / 05

    Modernizing legacy carefully.

I keep decades-old systems stable while shipping new stacks beside them. No big-bang rewrites, no surprise outages.

    04 / 05

    Cross-functional by default.

Sales, operations, finance, executives — I'm comfortable turning what the business actually needs into what engineering ships.

    05 / 05

    Cost-conscious engineering.

Two roles, two six-figure annual vendor contracts replaced by internal systems that paid for themselves in months.
